Former Bring Me the Horizon (BMTH) keyboardist Jordan Fish has quickly become one of the most sought-after producers in the rock and metal world since parting ways with the band in 2023. Reflecting on his 2024, Fish shared insights on his work with Poppy, Architects, and his growing reputation as a force in the music industry.
From Touring to Producing
Fish described the shift away from touring life as a “career change” that’s allowed him to focus on honing his skills as a producer. “It’s a different pace, and it suits me better,” he said.
His production credits this year include Poppy’s Negative Spaces, Architects’ upcoming The Sky, The Earth & All Between, and projects with artists like Bad Omens and Spiritbox.
Highlights from the Studio
Poppy’s Heaviest Album Yet
Fish worked closely with Poppy on Negative Spaces, aiming to deliver a more cohesive sound. “She wanted big rock songs… It was about putting her flavor over more conventional song structures.” The result was her heaviest album to date.
Elevating Architects
Fish helped shape Architects’ new album, pushing frontman Sam Carter to reach new heights vocally. “[Sam’s] incredible melodic clean vocals… We really leveled him up on this record,” Fish said.
Expanding His Repertoire
Beyond heavy music, Fish collaborated on a pop album with Dutch artist S10 and hinted at upcoming work with a “legacy pop-punk” act.
Humility Amidst Rising Status
Despite speculation that Fish could become a “super-producer” akin to Rick Rubin or Jack Antonoff, he remains modest. “I’m just a lowly producer,” he laughed. “I’m emotionally invested in every project… I want to see [the artists] win.”
What’s Next for Jordan Fish?
Looking ahead, Fish is excited for a packed 2025, with more collaborations in the pipeline and continued dedication to his craft. As he put it: “With every project I take on, I want to immerse myself to the point where I feel like I am the artist.”
