Aespa Shines at 2024 Melon Music Awards With Seven Wins

K-pop powerhouse aespa swept the 16th Melon Music Awards (MMA) on Saturday, claiming seven awards, including three of the event’s grand prizes: Artist of the Year, KakaoBank Album of the Year, and Best Song of the Year. Held at Inspire Arena on Incheon’s Yeongjong Island, the MMA saw 13,000 fans celebrate the best in Korean music across 27 categories.

In addition to their grand prizes, aespa earned honors for Top 10, Millions Top 10, Best Female Group, and Best Female Performance, cementing their dominance as one of K-pop’s top acts. Their hit song “Supernova,” from their first studio album, won Best Song of the Year and set records as the longest-running No. 1 on Melon’s 2024 charts.

Other notable winners included (G)I-DLE, who won Record of the Year for their second album, 2. During their acceptance speech, leader Soyeon announced that all members had renewed their contracts, much to fans’ relief and excitement.

Rookie of the Year honors went to boy band TWS and girl group ILLIT, both under HYBE Labels, whose debut tracks “Plot Twist” and “Magnetic” made massive waves on the charts this year.
