As ROSÉ of BLACKPINK prepares to release her highly anticipated debut solo album, Rosie, on Dec. 6, the 27-year-old K-pop star is reflecting on the invaluable advice she received from Taylor Swift, one of the most successful solo artists of all time.
Taylor Swift’s Guidance
In a new I-D Magazine cover story, ROSÉ revealed that she and Swift connected at a gathering hosted by producer Jack Antonoff at New York’s Electric Lady Studios. Swift immediately offered to help, even giving ROSÉ her number.
“As soon as she met me, she’s like, ‘Spill, let me help you out,’” ROSÉ shared, expressing gratitude for Swift’s generosity and practical advice.
“She was telling me – ‘make sure to take care of this, this and this’ – like, logistics. She was trying to protect me. Me becoming solo, being independent, it’s not an easy thing… She’s killed it in the game, and she was kind enough to walk me through.”
The two have been mutually supportive, with Swift showing love for BLACKPINK’s “Pink Venom” in a 2022 TikTok and later dancing to the track at the VMAs. ROSÉ, in turn, attended Swift’s Eras Tour stop in Tokyo, sharing her excitement on TikTok by singing along to “All Too Well (10 Minute Version)” and calling it “the best 10 minutes in Tokyo.”
The Journey to Rosie
Rosie, a 12-track LP, marks a monumental moment for ROSÉ, stepping out independently from her world-famous girl group. The BLACKPINK member spoke candidly about the challenges of going solo, sharing how Swift’s mentorship helped her navigate the transition.
“I was at a moment where I was drowning a little,” she admitted. “She [Taylor] is literally the coolest, and she’s such a girl’s girl.”
What’s Next
With her debut just weeks away, ROSÉ is poised to showcase her individuality while maintaining the global appeal that has made her a superstar with BLACKPINK. Fans are eagerly awaiting Rosie’s arrival, with many wondering how her artistry will evolve in this exciting new chapter.
